Eisteddfod 2025

The school celebrated St David’s Day by holding our annual Eisteddfod on Friday 7th March. Thank you to all of the  parents and children who supported our St David’s Day competitions. They were all absolutely fantastic!

Part of the Eisteddfod tradition is the chairing of the Bard which is a poetry competition.

This year Mabel Mathew won the competition for her excellent piece of poetry which can be read below.

Llongyfarchiadau!

The Whispering Valley

The valley was a swirling hurricane,

Twirling through the mint green grass of Wales,

As it passes it tells ancient tales,

Haunting each cobble of its past,

Each sail, each ship and each mast,

Every cobblestone tells a story,

Watching each fight that turned so gory,

But still they stand here today,

The whispering valley that guides the ways.

As the valley dances through the groves,

Showing off its funky moves,

Like it's an overprotective mother watching over the Welsh,

Feeling the thud from their footsteps,

Underneath the mud did squelch,

But still they stand here today,

The whispering that guides the way.

The wistful whispers of the past,

Remind people of the last,

Heroes that fought to tell the tales,

Of what happened in the horrendous history of Wales,

But still they stand here today,

The whispering valley that guides the way.
